Applicants must have obtained a high school diploma or GED; currently meet all requirements to be certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards of Education (TCLEOSE) as a peace officer for the State of Texas upon employment; and driving record must be acceptable according to standards developed jointly by the Department of Public Safety and the Texas Education Agency.

Prevention Control

Applicants must have obtained a high school diploma or GED. Duties include monitoring activities in parking lots, outside buildings and athletic fields at our high school facilities. Your driving record must be acceptable to the standards developed jointly by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Education Agency. It is preferred that you hold a security officer commission issued by the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Security Agencies.

Crossing Guard

Applicants must have obtained a high school diploma or GED. Duties include assisting students in crossing roadways with safety and reporting potential hazardous circumstances to school officials and the CISD Police. Hours are 2 to 4 hours daily depending on availability and school assignments.

The Hiring Process
Once a properly completed application has been submitted to the school district, the employment consideration begins. This process is the same for both full time and part-time positions.
For all positions, the first step in the process is the review of the submitted applications, and selection of those candidates that will be invited to the selection process. Following is information for Police Officers, Prevention Control Officers and Crossing Guards.
- POLICE OFFICER
- Complete on-line application on the CISD website.
- Call the Chief's Secretary Dee Ann Winslett at 936-539-0500.
- Attend employment orientation.
- You will be asked to complete a thorough Background Questionnaire. An investigator will be assigned to your background and an extensive background investigation will begin.
- Physical Agility Test.
- An employment interview is scheduled.
- If recommended as eligible for hire by the staff interview committee, you will meet with the Chief of Police for a possible offer of employment.
- If offered employment, you will be required to successfully complete a physical examination, a psychological evaluation, a drug screening test, and firearms qualification, to confirm employment.
- Training begins immediately upon employment with 80 hours of classroom training followed by about 8 weeks of evaluated field training.
- PREVENTION CONTROL MONITOR AND CROSSING GUARD
- Successful applicants are scheduled for an interview with the initial interview committee.
- If you are selected to continue from the initial interview, you will be asked to complete a Background Questionnaire. An investigator will be assigned to your background and a background investigation will start.
- Upon successful completion of the background investigation, you will meet with the Chief of Police for a possible offer of employment.
- If offered employment, you will be required to successfully complete a physical examination and a drug screening test.
